Canon Powershot SX10IS 10MP Digital Camera - Does it Measure Up?

If you are looking to buy a Canon Powershot SX10IS 10MP Digital Camera with 20x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom then you have arrived at the right place, you will not get all the fluff, that the normal review sites, will give you. You will get research based upon extensive user feedback from the people who have actually used and abused this product, that coupled with a genuine rating of whether we consider the product to be worthy of the purchase price. I will try and point out, what was considered to be whats good about this product and what was not so good, based upon real people with no axes to grind...
Pros
First off the camera felt very solidly built, if not a little heavy for a point and shoot model, but it did however feel well balanced throughout.
The SX10 IS stood up adequately to heavy usage, giving no issues, the controls are intuitively placed also. The 2.5" LCD screen is standard, but if I am honest, I would like to have seen a 3" screen for that little extra, and of course you would expect for the screen to pivot for easy viewing of subject (self portrait for example). What was very useful was the speed at which the unit booted up and was ready to shoot and it was also mentioned how useful the low battery warning was utilized, surprising how often , you can get caught out. As for the picture, well the 20x Optical zoom was considered more than acceptable. especially when used in conjunction with image stabilization function, that I know is available on less expensive Canon products, namely the Canon 1100 IS 8MP.
Cons
The feedback was less enthusiastic with the lack of grip on this unit, very slippery in damp conditions, which doesn't help if the subject is moving. Although the controls are intuitive the menu is far from that, proving a little messy, when it was un-familiar. The built in flash is pretty poor, but OK for day to day use, or in emergencies, this will often depend upon your own needs and wants. Pictures taken in low light, could be better, this is because of the densely packed pixels on the sensor, any ISO over 200/400 is un-usable.
Our Research on the Canon Powershot SX10 IS 10mp Digital Camera Suggests:
This product is proving to be a worthy successor to the S-series and G-series before that, it appears to have taken the minor concerns with those previous models and improved upon them, however as a result, it has a few concerns of its own, that you might find disappointing. If I were looking for a digital camera with excellent viewing Verdict: If you are looking for a digital camera, that is capable of giving you results that can hack it with the big boys (digital SLR), then you just might of found it.
